Let’s Make Sotanghon Soup at Home
Key-Ingredients :
- 1 medium carrot (cut into strips)
- 1 cup of sliced green beans
- Half kg of pre-cooked chicken breast (shredded cooked meat)
- 3 tbsp of fish sauce (patis)
- 2 medium onions (sliced)
- 6 cloves of garlic (chopped)
- 2 liters of hot water
- Half a liter of chicken stock
- 2 tbsp of chicken powder (or 2 chicken bouillon cubes)
- Half a teaspoon of black pepper
- 3 tbsp of Atsuete seeds
- Half a cup of chopped celery
Cooking Instructions :
- Begin your culinary journey by carefully cutting the vegetables, embracing the art of preparation. Take a cooking pot, fill it with water, and bring it to a vigorous boil. Once the water is bubbling, introduce a dried bay leaf and the chicken, allowing it to cook gracefully for 25-30 minutes. This essential step not only prepares the chicken but enhances its flavor.
- Once ready, transfer the cooked meat to a small bowl, setting it aside for the next phase of your creation. In another pot, pour in oil and let it warm over medium heat, filling the space with anticipation before adding garlic to sauté.
- Watch closely as the garlic cloves transform into golden delights, then invite the onion into the mix. Stir them harmoniously for several moments, blending their essence together.
- Next, add the shredded chicken pieces, generously incorporating fish sauce and chicken powder, allowing the chicken to cook for a few precious minutes. The addition of chicken powder and fish sauce will elevate the flavor, making your dish extraordinary.
- Add carrots and stir the spoon continually, allowing the vibrant colors to blend harmoniously. Pour in hot water, chicken stock, black pepper, and Atsuete seeds.
- Remember, the method for adding atsuete seeds is unique; take the seeds in a sieve and gently immerse them into the cooking pot. Watch as they steep in the hot liquid, transforming the soup into a masterpiece of color.
- Once the transformation is complete, remove the sieve and the atsuete seeds, then add celery and green beans, letting them infuse the pot with their freshness.
- Finally, add the noodles, let them boil, and then introduce the eggs. The Sotanghon soup is not just ready; it’s a celebration of flavors waiting to be shared!
