Originally from China, the Filipino interpretation of Hototay soup has gained popularity and is often considered superior by many. The inclusion of an array of vegetables, along with liver, enhances its flavor and nutritional value and contributes to its distinctive character.

Health Benefits :

Key-Ingredients :

  • 250g of pork (in cubes)
  • 250g chicken thigh fillet (sliced)
  • 100g of pork liver (sliced)
  • 2 chicken cubes
  • 7 to 8 cloves of garlic (minced)
  • One large sliced carrot
  • One chopped onion
  • One cup of shiitake mushrooms
  • Half  pc of cabbage (sliced)
  • Half cup Chicharo
  • Eggs
  • Oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Cooking Instructions :

  • To prepare Hototay soup, begin by heating oil in a large pot placed on the stovetop.
  • Once the oil is hot, add minced garlic and diced onion, sautéing them until they turn golden brown. Next, incorporate pork into the pot and stir well until it is fully cooked.
  • After the pork is cooked, add chicken and liver, continuing to cook the mixture for an additional 4 to 5 minutes. Subsequently, allow the ingredients to simmer for up to 25 minutes to ensure the meat becomes tender.
  • While the meat simmers, prepare the chicken broth by dissolving two chicken cubes in six cups of water.
  • Once ready, pour the broth into the pot and wait for it to reach a boil, then reduce the heat to let it simmer for 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Proceed by adding chopped carrots, cabbage, mushrooms, and chicharo (snow peas) to the pot.
  • Cook these vegetables for a few minutes, and then season the soup with salt and pepper to taste. Allow the mixture to cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Finally, your Hototay soup is ready to be served. Ladle it into soup bowls and top each serving with a freshly cracked egg for added richness.
